Indian cuisine is a delightful tapestry of flavors and traditions. Let’s explore a week of northern Indian cuisine that make up this vibrant culinary landscape. Indian cooking relies on staples like rice, diff forms of breads, lentils, spices, and aromatic herbs. These form the foundation of many mouthwatering dishes.


When we talk about Indian food first thing that comes in mind is lot of spices and complexity. Planning a weekly Indian meal menu can be a game-changer for busy schedules. This week we are going to explore lot of Northern Indian dishes which have the same base masala sauce. This Onion-Tomato Masala Sauce can be prepped ahead and freezes really well.


Idea behind the meal plan below is keeping the base sauce same how can we create various dishes that can be enjoyed each day!


Indian Starter spice list:

Cumin

Asafetida

Turmeric

Paparika (Kashmiri red chili powder, its flavorful and low heat level)

Amchur (Mango powder)

Garam Masala (spices blend powder)

Chana Masala

Chicken Curry Masala

Anardana Powder (Dry pomegranate seed powder)

Ghee

Bay leaves

Cinnamon

Clove

Yellow Lentil (Toor Dal)


Let’s dive into a simple and nutritious 7-day Indian weekly plan that’s easy to prepare and won’t overwhelm you with complexity.


Day 0 : Prep day, Shop for ingredients and prep for the week. Make the Onion-Tomato Masala Sauce. You can divide this prepared sauce into 1/2 cup portion sizes and freeze it.


Day 1: Chola (Channa Masala, Garbanzo curry) that can be served with Jeera rice (fragrant rice dish made with cumin) or if short on time, then Naan (store bought). Cucumber raita compliments this dish very well.


Day 2: Dal-Tarka (Yellow Lentils) served with Rice.


Day 3: Aloo-Gobi served with Roti/Chapati (store bought)


Day 4: Saag Paneer (spinach paneer) served with Parathas.


Day 5: Chicken curry served with Rice accompanied with Indian Salad.


Day 6: Paneer Bhurji (Paneer-peas curry) served with Parathas.


Day 7: Rajma (Red Kidney bean curry) served with Rice.


All the above dishes have the same base sauce that we prepared ahead of time! Save's lot of time and stays in budget while giving you a lot of variety and flexibility.
